Winners of the Novant Health Wilmington NC Marathon

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)– Thousands of runners are finally resting after competing at the Novant Health Wilmington NC Marathon.

After starting the race at Wrightsville Beach, runners crossed the finish line at Riverfront Park and received medals to help celebrate their amazing achievements.

After getting their prize, runners could go up on stage to take pictures, and ring a gong.

Anne Marie Pierce, who won the women’s race, and just qualified for the Olympic trials for 2028, says she gives thanks to her dad who always helped her out.

“I’m very persistent, and insistent, about just doing my best. My dad always said to never sacrifice the gift you have and just give the best you can,” said Pierce.  “I went out and gave everything I had today, which helped me make it to where I got.”

As for the male race, congratulations to Pablo Martinez-Oliva, who crossed the finish line first.
