Topsail claims tournament title over South Brunswick 5-3

BOILING SPRING LAKES, N.C. (WWAY) — Topsail baseball claimed the Cougar Diamond Classic title with a 5-3 win over hosting South Brunswick Wednesday night.

The Cougars found themselves up 3-0 in the 3rd, but momentum shifted when Grady Sotriffer left third base early on a sac fly to end the inning.

The Pirates capitalized by scoring four runs in the 5th, including a go-ahead three run homer. They managed to preserve the lead thanks in part to several other double plays, including South not tagging up again after a fly out to center.
