Update on Bladen County wildfire

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WWAY)– After more than 26 hours of heat, wind, and smoke, firefighters are trying to control a wildfire in Bladen County.

A wildfire started at Rosindale Road in Council that spanned over 700 acres, extending all the way to Columbus County.

On Thursday, tracks show where bulldozers plowed containment roads and lines.

N.C. Forestry ranger Aaron Prince says the goal now is to put out the small brush fires, or any wild spots that might show up with the help of drones.

“To get eyes over the fire, and maybe see some points of concern, some flare ups, spots fire across the lines, that may have taken ground resources and put them at risk,” said Prince. “That’s where the aerial resources are helpful. We are able to get lines around that stuff and continue on.”

The N.C. Forest Service says the cause of the fire remains under investigation. At this time, there have been no reports of property damage or any fatalities.
