WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Queen’s Coronation, one of the North Carolina Azalea Festival’s signature events, aired on WWAY and is available to watch in full in the video player above.

The ceremony was held aboard the Battleship North Carolina, where actress Elaine Hendrix was crowned Queen Azalea as part of the annual tradition that helps kick off festival festivities.

The event featured appearances from festival leadership, community members, celebrity guests and the Queen’s Court.

Following the coronation, Hendrix addressed the crowd, highlighting the significance of the festival and its connection to the Wilmington community.
