Wilmington police investigating crime scene at Independence Mall parking lot
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Wilmington Police Department are investigating a stabbing that occurred within or around the parking lot of JCPenney at Independence Mall.
According to police, a person who came from a nearby wooded area, was stabbed.
After arriving on scene, police set up a perimeter in the parking lot near JC Penny.
The victim was taken to Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center, and later died from their injuries.
Ron Evans of WPD says they are still investigating both when and where the stabbing occurred.
At this time, police have not arrested a suspect, or released the victim’s identity.
