Man charged following stabbing on Eastwood Road in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington man is facing charges after police say he stabbed another man Thursday night on Eastwood Road.

According to the Wilmington Police Department, officers responded around 10:15 p.m. to the 200 block of Eastwood Road in reference to a stabbing.

When officers arrived, they found a 44-year-old man with multiple stab wounds. Police said the injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Witnesses told officers the suspect may have gone into a nearby room at the Suburban Extended Stay hotel.

During the investigation, additional witnesses identified a man walking through the hotel’s back parking lot as a possible suspect. Officers detained him.

Police identified the suspect as 41-year-old Jose Martiliano Hernandez Gomez of Wilmington. According to investigators, Gomez admitted to the stabbing, and the weapon was recovered from him.

Gomez is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. He is being held at the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office Detention Facility without bond.
