Hot and humid weather for Thursday

(WWAY) — A Heat Advisory returns to the Cape Fear today as rain chances increase for Friday.
Expect hot and humid weather today with only a slight chance of an afternoon shower or thunderstorms and highs in the mid 90s and heat indices reaching from 103-107 late in the day. An incoming cold front will combine with tropical moisture… the energy and remnants of Arthur which will move across the Carolinas and southeast coast Friday bringing with it scattered showers and thunderstorms with rather hot and humid highs around or a little over 90. There is marginal risk of severe weather with the cold front moving through. The remnant moisture and front exit Friday night with this weekend bringing drier air along with high pressure. Look for lower humidity Saturday with sunshine and clouds and highs around or a little over 90 with nice weather expected for the North Carolina Blueberry Festival in Burgaw. Sunday will be mostly sunny with highs on Father’s Day reaching again around or a little over 90. Sunday also marks the 1st day of summer… the summer solstice! A slight chance of showers or thunderstorms returns next Monday with increasing humidity as a warm front lifts through the region with partly cloudy skies and highs in the lower 90s. This will be followed by a cold front next Tuesday bringing a few showers or thunderstorms with it and highs in the lower 90s.
