Two more juveniles charged in connection with Fourth of July weekend assault in Landfall

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington police have charged two additional juveniles in connection with a serious assault that occurred in the Landfall community over the Fourth of July holiday weekend.
According to the Wilmington Police Department, detectives filed charges against the two juveniles as the investigation continues.
One juvenile has been charged with assault inflicting serious injury and disorderly conduct by fighting.
The second juvenile faces two counts of assault inflicting serious injury and disorderly conduct by fighting.
Because all of the suspects are juveniles, authorities are not releasing their identities.
Police said secured custody orders have been issued for both newly charged juveniles, but they had not yet been taken into custody as of the latest update.
The new charges follow an earlier announcement from investigators that a 17-year-old had been charged with felony assault inflicting serious bodily injury in connection with the incident. At the time, detectives said additional charges were expected.
The investigation began after a serious assault was reported in the Landfall community during the Fourth of July weekend. Police first announced the investigation on July 7, saying detectives were gathering information and asking the public for assistance.
Authorities have not released additional details about the circumstances surrounding the assault or the victims involved.
