$1 million bond set for Burgaw man facing child sex abuse charges

PENDER COUNTY, N.C. (WWAY) — A Burgaw man is facing multiple felony charges in connection with an alleged child sex abuse case, according to court records.

Brandon Tripp Comfort, 33, was arrested Aug. 12 by the Pender County Sheriff’s Office and charged with:

  • Statutory rape of a child 15 or younger
  • Statutory sexual offense with a child 15 or younger
  • Indecent liberties with a child

According to court records, the alleged offenses occurred on or about June 1, 2026.

During a court appearance on Aug. 13, a judge appointed the Public Defender’s Office to represent the defendant and set bond at $1 million secured.

The defendant’s next court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 16 in Pender County.
