Woman pleads guilty in Downtown Wilmington stabbing

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A woman charged in an April stabbing in Downtown Wilmington pleaded guilty to assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, according to officials.
Jazya Monoe Muldrow-Green, 20, entered the plea Thursday, Aug. 13, and was sentenced to 30 to 48 months in prison.
The case stems from an early morning fight on Easter Sunday in Wilmington.
According to officials, an argument involving a small group of women escalated into a physical altercation between Muldrow-Green and another woman at about 2:10 a.m.
Investigators said Muldrow-Green was holding a knife and a cellphone when she struck the victim multiple times.
The victim suffered serious injuries to her arms and hands before Muldrow-Green was pulled away.
Officials said Muldrow-Green then handed the knife to another person, who discarded it a short distance from the scene. Responding officers later located and collected the knife.
Investigators also obtained cellphone video recorded by a bystander that captured the altercation.
The stabbing occurred around the same time and less than a block from a separate, unrelated stabbing that resulted in the death of a U.S. Marine.
Officials said Muldrow-Green has an extensive criminal history, including seven assault-related convictions and multiple larceny offenses.
