UNCW Kenan Auditorium to host National Geographic Live presentation on Nov. 6

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — UNCW Kenan Auditorium will host National Geographic Live: Earth After Dark on Friday, Nov. 6, featuring National Geographic Explorer Babak Tafreshi.
The presentation is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and will use photography and video to explore the natural world after sunset, including the night sky, wildlife and human communities.
Tafreshi is a photographer and cinematographer who combines art and science to document wildlife, humanity and the cosmos. In 2007, he created The World at Night program, which promotes a shared connection to the night sky.
His work has received several honors, including the 2009 Lennart Nilsson Award and the National Geographic Society’s 2022 Wayfinder Award. He has contributed to National Geographic since 2012.
The presentation will feature imagery ranging from neighborhood streets to remote dark-sky locations, highlighting landscapes, wildlife and celestial events visible after dark.
