Election Day begins across Cape Fear Region; Officials share early impressions

BELVILLE, NC (WWAY) — A Brunswick County election official is encouraging residents to head to the polls as Election Day gets underway.

Johnnie Simpson, chief judge of the Belville 2 precinct, spoke with WWAY this morning, expressing her enthusiasm for the election and urging voters to take advantage of the opportunity to cast their ballots.

“Vote today! We want everyone to have the opportunity to vote today,” Simpson said. “This has been an early voting site since day one. We’ve had record numbers every day.”

Simpson said she has been pleased with voter turnout throughout early voting and hopes that enthusiasm continues on Election Day.

She also noted some early morning confusion surrounding changes to voting locations. Voters can check their assigned polling place here.

Election officials are also available at most polling sites to assist voters who need help.
