ALE shuts down operation into sale of illegal moonshine across the state

NORTH CAROLINA (WNCT) — The North Carolina Alcoholic Law Enforcement shut down an operation related to the sale of illegal moonshine in several counties and towns around the state.

Last week, ALE agents said they shut down an operation in Newton Grove where they seized a 560-gallon liquor still.

Non-tax paid liquor was being sold from a Roxboro Auto-Repair shop in Person County, agents said.

The investigation led agents to Henderson, Moore County, Benson and Newland.

Agents said they found 140 gallons of moonshine at a residence in Henderson.
