A Whiteville pharmacy break-in results in loss of $16,000 worth of prescription items
WHITEVILLE, NC (WWAY) — Police are investigating a break-in at Guiton’s Drug Store that happened on December 29 in downtown Whiteville. The suspect stole around $16,000 of prescription items.
Pharmacist Angela Soles said no narcotics were taken. Instead, the suspect took items such as weight loss drugs, anti-diarrheal meds, and other non-controlled substances.
In addition, there is around $10,000 in property damage from the front glass window being broken into. The business is now operating as normal.
“We were fortunate that no employees were present and that this incident happened overnight,” Soles said.
Soles said she is thankful for Whiteville PD’s response time of only 4 minutes.
“Thankfully due to the system and their call to me, I was able to respond to Whiteville PD in a timely manner,” Soles said. “We were also super pleased with the measures that we had in place to make sure our narcotics were secured.”
Police say the investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made.
Detective Sgt. Scott Moody said there are currently no leads on this case and is asking residents to contact Whiteville P.D. with any information that may help in identifying the suspect.
