NEW HANOVER COUNTY(WWAY)–One of the things lots of people enjoy about the season is checking out holiday light displays. In one community in Wilmington, some residents string thousands of lights each year.
There are lights, lights, and more lights! These folks in the Tyndall neighborhood in the Masonboro area love going over the top!

Reporter: “What do you think about the lights?
Hope White: “I think everyone outdid themselves this year and showed the true Christmas spirit.”

And, when it comes to the Christmas spirit, Lynn and Clint McBride in Wilmington don’t know when to stop!

Reporter: “How many lights do you guys have out?
Lynn: “No idea!”
Lynn: “There’s not a theme.
Clint: “It’s just lights! Make it bright!

Their house on the corner is Christmas Central.

“It’s a neighborhood thing. Everyone jumps on board,” Lynn said.

The McBrides have been doing this for eight years and say every year gets bigger and flashier.

“We do it to spread joy. It’s the whole point- light in the darkness is what I live for,” Lynn explained.

People are taking a liking to the neighborhood, so much so that church groups make special trips. However, a little way down the road, neighbor Chelsea Kuirscher has her unique display with Christmas angels and more.

“There’s a lot of presents and sparkly things around the holidays, and we just wanted to have a display to help remember the birth of Christ for Christmas,” Kuirscher said.

Reporter: “Did you help this year?”
Eli: “Not really.”

Hang in there little Eli. There’s always next year. From Santa peeking through the window to showing a little patriotic love, this neighborhood in Wilmington is literally “Lit!”

Reporter: “You guys are going to have an expensive light bill.”
Lynn: “It’s not that bad. I promise! That’s our number one question!”
