Victim shot in leg after gun accidentally discharges at Shallotte restaurant

SHALLOTTE, NC (WWAY) — An accidental shooting at a Shallotte restaurant has left one person injured.

Officers with the Shallotte Police Department say they responded to the Wing and Fish Company restaurant Sunday around 7:30 p.m., after reports of someone being shot.

When the officers arrived, they found one victim shot in the leg. The person was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released from the hospital.

During their investigation, Shallotte Police say it was determined the incident was an accident due to the negligence of the gun owner.

Dylan Britt was charged with misdemeanor discharging a firearm in city limits, misdemeanor carrying a concealed weapon, and misdemeanor weapons charges for carrying a concealed weapon in an establishment that sells alcoholic beverages.
