Airlie Gardens hosts inaugural Blooms and Brews event
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)– Spring is in the air, and Wilmington’s garden staple has kicked off the season to come in celebration with an inaugural event.
Friday night, people gathered at Airlie gardens for the first ever Blooms and Brews event.
The event took place on the oak lawn. Airlie is known for its spectacular floral collections that include more than 75-thousand azaleas, 30-thousand tulips, and 4-thousand camellia cultivars.
Janine Powell is the Director of Donor Relations at Airlie Gardens.
She says this is their effort to not only celebrate, but appreciate the hard work that goes into keeping the gardens beautiful.
“The gardeners and staff put so much hard work into making this place so beautiful, and we’ve never really taken a night to celebrate it with some of our members and our staff,” said Powell.
This new event will raise money to help take care of the gardens’ special collections. Food was provided by Pine Valley Market, and beverages by Mad Mole Brewing Company. There was a DJ to provide entertainment as well.
