WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)— The Alpha Psi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.’s 118th Founders’ Day Luncheon brought together chapter members for a celebration marking 118 years of service, dedication, and sisterhood.

This year’s theme, ‘Reigning in Victory, Shining in Excellence,’ set the tone for an afternoon of fellowship honoring the sorority’s history and shared commitment to service. President of the local chapter, Onya Gardner, greeted chapter members and introduced WWAY News’ Tomika Jackson, the special guest speaker.

The sorority concluded their celebration at the historic Chestnut Presbyterian Church, honoring the traditions that unite their sisterhood. Throughout the Founders’ Day season, they dedicated themselves to service through initiatives aimed at addressing period poverty and providing meaningful donations.
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., was founded in 1908 on the campus of Howard University, a Historically Black College and University. Howard University has also been the birthplace of several historically Black Greek-letter organizations.
