Alum Craig Wilson returns to coach Pender boys hoops

BURGAW, NC (WWAY) — A Pender High School alum is coming home to coach his alma mater’s boys basketball team.

Pender High School announced Craig Wilson will be the Patriots’ new coach. Wilson is a 1988 graduate of the school.

Wilson coached last season at Millbrook High School in Wake County. His career also includes stops at Hunt High School, Word of God Christian Academy, Knightdale High School and St. Augustine College. He was a part of the coaching staff that won the state championship in 2013 at Word of God Academy.

According to a news release, he has helped more than 70 student-athletes get college scholarships and has been a personal trainer to NBA players Chris Duhon for 10 years, and briefly with Al Harrington, Julius Hodge and T.J. Warren.
