“Every second counts”: Officials ask for public’s help in search for missing 3-year-old
JACKSONVILLE, Onslow County – The Onslow County Sheriff’s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation held a joint news conference to discuss the ongoing investigation into a missing 3-year-old girl from Onslow County.
Mariah was last seen the night before, on November 26, when her mother put her to bed. An Amber Alert was issued later in the evening, hours after the little girl was reported missing.
“Priority number one is to find Mariah,” an FBI official said in the conference. “We are using every resource available to ensure we are covering the area.”
Onslow County Sheriff Hans Miller said that multiple agencies are continuing to conduct extensive searches and interviews to solve this case.
When asked if Mariah’s mother and her live-in boyfriend were polygraphed, Sheriff Miller said no investigative details are going to be released at this time.
“Our intention is to search everything we can search,” Sheriff Miller said. “Mariah is a member of our community — every second counts.”
Officials are asking that the public do their part in searching for Mariah. Sheriff Miller asked that residents search their surrounding areas for anything that could point officials in the right direction.
“Our minds our open, our ears are open and our eyes are open,” Sheriff Miller said.
The FBI has also created a “missing poster” that will be featured on all of the FBI social media sites.
Officials are looking to put together a detailed timeline of the days Mariah has been missing. The FBI is asking for anyone who had contact with the family from Sunday, November 26, forward to contact the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office right away.
Mariah has been missing for more than 24 hours. Her biological father is concerned that there is more to the story of his daughter’s disappearance than what is being said.
If you have information that can help officials, you are asked to contact the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office at 910-455-3113.
