Analysis shows city spent $475,000 on consultants

WILMINGTON, NC (StarNews) — The city spends big bucks hiring outside consultants to study issues before decisions are made.

The topics are diverse: narrowing Market Street to two lanes, consolidating fire departments, building a minor league baseball stadium.

Although government is disparaged for how slowly things get done, officials say the outside expertise is worthwhile and brings facts to help guide important decisions.
