Animal control, sheriff’s office investigating after horse left for dead

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — According to Animal Control Manager Joey Prince, Animal Control and the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office are investing the death of a horse found just off Old Lumberton Road, almost at the Robeson/Columbus county line.

Prince said from the appearance of the horse it looks like the animal was tied to a tree and left to starve. Prince said the horse was only recently deceased.

Prince said there are a few leads the investigation is following up on.
