Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade held in downtown Wilmington
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The 23rd annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade kicked off on Saturday in downtown Wilmington. Hundreds of people lining the streets dawning their best green attire.
For some folks, finding that green spirit was a bit of a challenge.
“I have a few things that are green, but it’s definitely not my go-to,” Wilmington resident Breanna Seely said.
Seely said she was already in the neighborhood when the parade began.
“I live downtown, so we walked down here to join the festivities and it’s been a blast,” Seely said.
For husband and wife duo Paula and George Plarre, this is their first time viewing the parade from the sidelines. In pervious years, George has driven in the parade as part of the Antique Automotive Club of America.
“Instead of riding in the parade, and I can never see the parade, I think this time im going to look at the parade,” George said.
“It looks like it’s a lot of fun. Threat of rain, but I think we’re going to make it,” Paula noted.
And just as WWAY meteorologists forecasted, there was no rain on this parade.
