Another staff member from New Hanover Community Endowment resigning

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The New Hanover Community Endowment is undergoing more changes this week, following the resignation of Communications Director Kevin Maurer.

Maurer’s departure follows the resignation of Executive Vice President of Programs and Operations Lakesha McDay, who stepped down on Monday.

Maurer released the following statement to WWAY, “I’ve decided to leave NHCE to pursue other opportunities. I am proud of the work we accomplished and wish NHCE nothing but success in the future,” he said.

McDay will remain in a consultancy role to support the transition of leadership under new CEO Dan Winslow.

The NHCE has seen a steady increase in its turnover over the past several months.

Community Engagement Director Michele Holbrook resigned in May. Commissioner Pat Kusek stepped down from the board in March and President and CEO William Buster resigned in February.
