BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — An application has been submitted for a highway historical marker to remember the lives lost in a 1960 plane crash in Brunswick County.

On January 6, 1960, National Airlines Flight 2511 crashed, killing 29 passengers and five crew members.

Linda Bufano lost both of her parents in the crash and has been working to ensure the event is not forgotten.

The North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources received an application for the marker, and it’s set to be discussed at their meeting on May 20th.
