Approximately 50 paratroopers hurt during airborne operation
FORT BRAGG, NC (AP) — Approximately 50 Fort Bragg paratroopers were taken to the hospital for observation following an airborne operation.
A statement from the Army post on Tuesday said five troopers were admitted, while 40 others have been released from Womack Army Medical Center. The remainder is awaiting evaluation. The paratroopers were part of the exercise involving numerous aircraft seen over the Cape Fear Region Monday night.
The statement said the types of injuries included lower extremity injuries and back pain. There were no life-threatening injuries and the majority of troopers were expected to be able to resume normal duties by the end of the day Tuesday.
