WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) – It did not take long for Hoggard to keep their MEC girls soccer lead in tact when they visited Laney on Monday and left with a 4-0 win.

Midway through the 1st, Brielle Archer scored to give the Vikings the lead. Just 93 seconds later, Archer scored again to double their advantage. Then 54 seconds after that, Avery Fisher tallied another to make it 3-0 in a span of 2:27.

Archer would add another a few minutes later to complete the hat trick. All goals were scored in a span of 6:49.

“It’s a good confidence boost, but I think we all know that we’re not done yet,” Fisher said. “We don’t want to get too confident because we still have a tough road ahead of us. Especially going into the playoffs and the rest of the season. There have been scores in this conference that don’t necessarily reflect other ones. So we just need to be cautious going into games and not being too confident or thinking we need to play to win. Our coach says, ‘don’t think about the opponent, just think about the game.”
