Argument between Jacksonville couple turns deadly

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (AP) – Onslow County deputies say an argument between a man and a woman has ended with the woman shot to death.

Authorities say Anita Law was killed around 6:30 p.m. at her home just outside of Jacksonville.

Investigators say 24-year-old Pernell Jones left the house, but was arrested a short time later after a deputy spotted his car. Authorities say they found a shotgun inside the vehicle.

Jones is charged with first-degree murder and is being held in the Onslow County jail. It wasn’t clear if he had a lawyer.
