Arthur not worrying folks at Carolina Beach

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — As Arthur heads our waym folks at our beaches are wondering about how the approaching storm may hit their wallets.

For folks who’ve lived at Carolina Beach for any length of time, hurricanes and tropical storms are out of our control. What you can control is how you prepare.

The Drifters Reef Motel is getting ready more for the 4th of July weekend than the storm. In fact folks were out and about all over the island.

Arthur will have its biggest impact Thursday, and these folks say it’s on people’s minds even before the storm clouds roll in.

“Reservations that are coming in are calling,” said Jenda Brown, who works at the hotel. “We just tell them it’s gonna be a little bit of rain and wind, and they’re fine with that so. They’re still coming.”

She also said her bosses are not worried about any real economic impact. She said they will likely make up for the few cancellations they have had during the holiday weekend.

A little light on the concern here all assuming Arthur sticks to its current forecast track.

Everyone says though they’re keeping an eye on the track, because with Mother Nature here in southeastern North Carolina you just never know.
