Ashley advances with 5-0 win over Broughton

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) – Braving the rain, Ashley looked like themselves on Monday with a 5-0 win over Broughton in the opening round of the NCHSAA girls soccer tournament.

Just over six minutes in, Savannah Manset scored the opening goal after her initial shot was saved. A defender headed the ball away, right onto Manset’s foot. The senior then kicked the ball backwards into the net to break the ice.

Kieran Bradley added another soon after. She would have two goals going into halftime.

The 12th-seeded Eagles will play at home on Thursday in the next round. They will face 28th-seeded Enloe, who upset 5th-seeded Pinecrest.
