Ashley Sloup wins Carolinas Women’s Amateur; Paul Simson captures NC Senior Amateur


PAWLEYS ISLAND, SC (WWAY) — Former South Brunswick golf standout Ashley Sloup won the Carolinas Women’s Amateur on Wednesday afternoon. Sloup fired a 73 on Wednesday. She won by three strokes, finishing six over par for the tournament, three shots ahead of Bailey Cocca. More details soon.

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Defending champion Paul Simson fired a 31 on the back nine at Porters Neck on Wednesday. He needed every shot  in order to come from behind in the North Carolina Senior Amateur Championship. For the fifth straight year Jim Grainger finished as the tournament runner-up. Simson finished the tournament at six under par, one stroke better than Jim Grainger and Doug Owens. More details soon.
