Assault suspect takes deputies on chase, ends in crash
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A man is behind bars after Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies say he lead them on a chase Sunday morning that ended in a crash.
A spokeswoman with the sheriff’s office said deputies were called out to a home on Jolly Roger Drive in Supply around 3:30 a.m. for injury to property and assault on a female. The suspect fled the scene prior to law enforcement arrival.
The spokeswoman said the victims victims took out their own warrants. A warrant was issued for a Silver Grand Am. Police said around 7 a.m. the vehicle was spotted in the Leland area around Waterford by a Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputy and by Highway Patrol. Deputies attempted to pull the driver over, but they said he did not comply. After several attempts to pull him over, a pursuit continued down highway 17 including the use of stop spikes which pierced 3 of the tires. Deputies said they also attempted a PIT maneuver.
The spokeswoman said the chase ended near Galloway Road and US 17 near the south end of Old Ocean Hwy with the car rolling over on it’s side. The driver of the car, Anthony Joseph Price, 20, of Knightdale was taken into custody and then taken to Brunswick Novant hospital to be checked out. He was then taken to the Brunswick County Detention Facility where he remains under a $60,000 bond.
Price is facing flee/elude arrest with a motor vehicle, assault with a deadly weapon on a government official, resisting a public officer, injury to personal property, and assault on a female.
The spokeswoman said there will probably be additional charges taken out by Highway Patrol.
