NHHS asst. principal suspended, demoted
NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A spokeswoman with New Hanover County Schools said an assistant principal who was suspended has now been reassigned to a teaching position.
Spokeswoman Valita Quattlebaum said Wanda Sloan, who was the assistant principal at New Hanover High, was suspended with pay in May. That suspension was then turned into a suspension without pay for June 3 through the 9. Quattlebaum said she will be suspended without pay for another week July 13 through 17. Her new position is listed as a career and technical education teacher.
According to HR records, Sloan makes about $6,000 a month and that will not change in the new position. Her contract is up June 30, 2018.
There’s no word on the reason for the suspension and demotion. Quattlebaum said the suspension dates vary for each employee depending on action and the needs of the district.
Sloan has been working in the district since 1988.
