Atlantic Beach fire chief ‘critically injured’ in accident

ATLANTIC BEACH, NC (WCTI) – Atlantic Beach Fire/EMS chief Adam Snyder was critically injured in a snow skiing accident while on a weekend trip with family, according to a release sent by the town manager of Atlantic Beach on Sunday.

Town manager David Walker said it happened Saturday at Wintergreen Resort in Virginia. Snyder, 47, was immediately transported to the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Walker said Snyder remains there in critical condition. Family members along with members of the Atlantic Beach Fire Department are now by his side.

Snyder is a 20-year member of the Atlantic Beach Fire Department, the past fifteen years serving as Chief, according to Walker. He is also a United States Marine Corps veteran where he served as a rescue swimmer.
