Authorities launch July 4 DWI enforcement campaign
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Law enforcement agencies have begun their efforts to ensure safe driving during the upcoming July 4 holiday weekend.
Local, state and military officials gathered at the Airborne and Operations Museum in Fayetteville last week to kick off the Fourth of July “Booze It & Lose It” Operation Firecracker driving while impaired enforcement campaign.
The Governor’s Highway Safety Program, in conjunction with the N.C. Department of Transportation, has launched its summer marketing campaign, “Don’t Drink and Drive. You’re Smarter Than That.” The campaign focuses on building awareness of the variety of options a person has to get home safely after drinking.
In addition, the N.C. Highway Patrol is advising motorists that troopers will be out in increased number on interstates, major four-lane highways and rural paved roads during the weekend.
