AZALEA GARDEN TOUR: Airlie Gardens

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — With 77 acres and 100-thousand azaleas, it’s no wonder Airlie Gardens is a yearly staple on the Azalea Garden Tour.

From the grand Airlie Oak and swan nests to the camellias and azaleas, everything about Airlie makes it the quintessential southern garden.
You could walk the grounds every day and still find something new to be wowed by.
In fact, Scott Childs does.
Scott has been with Airlie Gardens for five years, and he says he’s still taking it in.

“It’s 77 acres, yeah. It’s going to be longer than five years. I’m still learning stuff every day out here. There are plants I walk by, I don’t even notice them there are so many plants out here.”

If you want to see all the plants Airlie has to offer, it is part of the the Cape Fear Garden Club Azalea Garden Tour Saturday and Sunday.
