Bacteria strikes Brunswick County daycares

Bacteria in Brunswick County daycare centers are making some kids sick to their stomach.

The bacteria is called shigella. Symptoms of infection by shigellosis include fever, diarrhea and stomach cramps.

The disease is passed from the stool or soiled fingers of one person to another’s mouth. Health officials say to wash hands thoroughly and dispose of diapers in a closed lid garbage can.
