Bakers invited to take on StarNews Holiday Cookie Contest
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Many would agree nothing says Happy Holidays than a plate full with warm cookies. Do you think you have the best recipe?
You can enter it in the 4th annual StarNews Holiday Cookie Contest which starts Tuesday.
In order to participate you must submit a copy for your recipe to Paul Stephen, Paul.Stephen@starnewsonline.com, before Friday.
You must then drop off a dozen cookies on a covered disposable plate between 7:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Friday, dec. 2nd at their office located at 1003 S. 17th Street in Wilmington.
Once the contest has ended, the cookies will be tested by a panel of judges that includes culinary professionals and previous winners.
“We have had several entries that were sort of a pastry based cookie wrapped around nuts and jellies,” Paul Stephen, StarNews food writer, said.
“People seem to associated that with the holidays, but that being said a really excellent chocolate chip cookie will always make people happy so don’t feel lock in to one particular kind.”
All recipes from previous years are available online.
The winner will receive a KitchenAid stand mixer courtesy of Island Appliance. Two runners-up will also each claim a $75 gift card to an area grocery store of their choice.
