‘Banding Together’ Concert raises funds for Western North Carolina

OAK ISLAND, NC (WWAY) — The “Banding Together” concert is a collaborative effort between the Town of Oak Island and the local community to provide relief aid to victims of Hurricane Helene, particularly in the Town of Spruce Pine and surrounding areas.

A collection drive for winter items began at 10 AM, focusing on the essential supplies needed as the region enters the winter season.

Donation efforts are being coordinated directly with the Spruce Pine Police Department, ensuring that all contributions will directly benefit those in need.

Local bands, including The Doorsmen, performed starting at noon, bringing the community together for a day of music and support.

Mike Emory, a spokesperson for the town, shared that as of 4 PM, they had raised well over twenty thousand dollars in donations.

Donations are still being collected until midnight.
