WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — In honor of the 250th anniversary of the United States Marine Corps the Battleship North Carolina will illuminate in the Marine Corps colors.

Friday through Monday, the 250th anniversary, the Battleship will be illuminated in scarlet and gold beginning at sunset.

On Tuesday, the Battleship will transition to red, white and blue lighting as a tribute to Veterans Day.

“The Battleship stands as our state’s memorial to the service and sacrifice of our veterans,” said Dr. Jay Martin, Executive Director of the Battleship North Carolina Memorial. “Lighting the ship in the Marine Corps colors—and then in red, white, and blue for Veterans Day—is our way of saying thank you to the men and women who have dedicated their lives to protecting our freedom.”
