BCSO makes multiple drug arrests

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office arrested seven people in connection with drug charges there involving heroin, cocaine, molly, and marijuana over the past week. The arrests came from several different investigations. They credited the public with helping in those arrests.

According to a Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office news release, Julian Ivory Johnson, 22, was arrested for trafficking heroin, possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver heroin, felony possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana. Johnson also had several outstanding charges stemming from separate incidents including resisting a public officer, driving while license revoked, and failure to heed a light or siren. Johnson was booked into the Brunswick County Detention Facility where he remains under a $1.5 million bond.

Also arrested during the incident was Matthew Deante Hewett, 30. He’s charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, felony possession of cocaine, possession of a controlled substance on the premises of a jail, and harboring a fugitive. Hewett is also being held in the Brunswick County Detention Facility under a $1.5 million bond.

India Bowen, 22, was charged with PWIMSD a Schedule I Controlled Substance (MDMA or “molly”), manufacturing a schedule I controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. She, too, is being held in the Brunswick County Detention Facility under a $10,000 bond.

Cheintay Germaine Graham Hewett, 31, was charged with felony possession of a schedule I controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and possession drug paraphernalia. She was booked in and later released from the Brunswick County Detention Facility under a $5,000 bond.

Deputies said they seized about seven grams of MDMA or “molly” during the investigation, as well as 170 bindles of heroin, 14 grams of marijuana and $1,500.

Also arrested in an unrelated incident Sunday was Morris Othorel Watson, 59, for PWIMSD a schedule II controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Watson, was arrested following a traffic stop, and was booked into the Brunswick County Detention Facility and was released shortly after under a $5,000 bond.

In an additional separate incident, Preston Antellio Bessent, 25, was arrested Saturday for conspiring to sell heroin, PWIMSD heroin, selling heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia and carrying a concealed gun. Bessent is currently being detained in the Brunswick County Detention Facility under a $1 million bond.
Arrested during that same incident was Stephen Daniel Ostroski, 30, who is also charged with conspiring to sell heroin. He remains in the Brunswick County Detention Facility under a $10,000 bond. Both of these arrests occurred following a traffic stop on Country Club Road in Calabash. Deputies said they seized nearly 70 bindles of heroin during that arrest.
