Beach businesses buckle down for a busy weekend

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Some Wrightsville Beach businesses are preparing for the busiest weekend of the year.

Kohl’s Custard General Manager, Ruby Tharin, said the 4th of July weekend brings in double the amount of sales compared to a normal weekend.

Last year she said Hurricane Arthur gave them a slight lull, but she said she expects this year to be the busiest yet. She said while there has been a lot of shark talk, she doesn’t think it’ll affect the beach’s business.

“I think it might have an effect on people actually going to the beach to swim but I think tourism is so big just the culture to be on the beach and boating wise as long as you’re not in the water I don’t think it’ll be that big of an effect,” said Tharin.

Tharin said they will be open all weekend and selling red, white and blueberry smoothies for the 4th.
