Beach nourishment project begins at Carolina Beach

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) – The Coastal Storm Risk Management Project (CSRM), often referred to as “beach nourishment”, is ready to start! The contractor has been mobilizing over the last month and has placed piping immediately adjacent to the dunes, avoiding obstructions for Freeman Park users and beach goers.
A crossover will be installed near the start of the project area, and sand placement will begin just north of the Carolina Beach Pier.
As work on the project begins this weekend, the Town will temporarily close Freeman Park from November 21st to November 23rd to finalize piping locations and ensure equipment is in place to start sand placement. After Freeman Park reopens, beach closures can be expected starting at the pier and moving south as the project progresses.
