Beach season winds down, lifeguards dwindle
WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — As the summer season winds down, lifeguard presence on the beaches will start to thin out.
At Wrightsville Beach, the Ocean Rescue team has lowered their numbers for the next few weeks. During the week, there will only be six to eight lifeguards in total, and a few more on the weekend.
As rip currents strengthen back up, lifeguards are warning beach goers to be extra cautious. As always, they will still have rescue cruisers patrolling the beach.
