Belville celebrates 48th Founders Day at Riverwalk Park

BELVILLE, NC (WWAY)– The Town of Belville celebrated its 48th birthday Saturday with a Founders Day event at Belville Riverwalk Park.

Founded in 1977, the town marked the occasion with more than 50 local vendors, live music from the Port City Rockers, and several community outreach efforts.

Among the participants were Michael Opiela and Michael Pinto, civilian volunteers with the Wilmington Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 1006. The two shared information with attendees about water safety and upcoming initiatives.

“Boater Safety Week is coming up starting May 17th. We at the auxiliary are interested in new members and making people aware of the services we offer in boater safety, such as vessel safety exams,” Opiela said.

WWAY also participated and hosted a booth near the entrance, where staff handed out balloons to visitors.
