Belville honors late mayor Mike Allen with public service, online stream

BELVILLE, NC (WWAY) — The Town of Belville is honoring longtime Mayor Mike Allen with a public celebration of life Tuesday morning. For those unable to attend in person, the service will be streamed online.
The funeral is set for 11 a.m. at Odell Williamson Auditorium on the campus of Brunswick Community College. An online livestream can be viewed here.
Allen, who died last week at the age of 76, served the town for more than 15 years, including seven terms as mayor. He was also a U.S. Army veteran and a captain with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office.
Town officials credit Allen with helping to revitalize downtown Belville and shape a long-term vision for the town’s future.
In observance of Allen’s passing, Belville Town Hall is closed Tuesday.
Charles Bost has been named acting mayor.
