Belville house fire now arson investigation

BELVILLE, NC (WWAY) — An early-morning house fire is now being investigated as suspicious.

According to the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office, the fire that happened at the home in the 800-block of River Road Wednesday morning is now considered an arson investigation. Brunswick County Fire Marshal Scott Garner also confirmed it is being investigated as suspicious, but referred questions about the investigation to BCSO. He said no one was home at the time of the fire.

The fire caused major traffic backups for Leland-Belville area drivers as crews battled the blaze. In incident logs, a 65-year-old male victim was identified in connection with the house fire. No word on details of the fire origin. Damage was stated to be around $5,000.
