Belville Mayor Michael Allen dies at 76

BELVILLE, NC (WWAY) — The Town of Belville has announced that longtime Mayor Michael Allen died overnight at the age of 76.

Allen served the town for more than 15 years, including seven terms as mayor. Town officials say he played a key role in efforts to revitalize downtown Belville and helped shape a long-term vision for its growth and development.

“We are heartbroken by this loss, but we are so grateful for the time that we had with him,” the Town of Belville said in a statement. “He loved this town and dedicated his life to serving its residents.”

Charles Bost has been named acting mayor.

Funeral arrangements are pending and will be announced at a later date.

Town Hall will be closed today, Wednesday, July 30, in observance of Mayor Allen’s death.
