Belville town officials discuss potential developments

BELVILLE, NC (WWAY) — The area off of NC 133 and Blackwell Road in Belville has seen a lot of change in recent months a new traffic light and completely different traffic pattern coming with the Diverging Diamond and more change is coming. Belville Mayor Mike Allen said there are already developers getting the land near NC 133 ready for builders.

Allen said he can’t reveal what specific businesses are coming but people can expect restaurants and stores.

The Belville Town Hall is also planned for this area. The current town hall is on the second floor of a building in the Waterford complex. Town officials said they are looking to enter into a lease agreement with the builders for the town hall but nothing is set in stone. Monday night town officials said they are getting close to signing an agreement for the new town hall.

Allen said he knows people want to know what’s going to be developed in that area of town and he wants to tells them but he can’t just yet.

“People in the town or in the area are always wondering with the construction in the area, ‘what are ya’ll building?’, said Allen. “Well you know being the mayor I’d love to tell everybody exactly what we are going to build but until the contracts are signed we kind of have to keep it a little quiet but it’s happening.”

Allen said he is hoping specific projects will be revealed by the end of this year.
