BEMC awards $40,000 worth of grants to Brunswick and Columbus County teachers
SUPPLY, NC (WWAY) — Dozens of teachers were awarded grants to help them implement new projects for their students.
Brunswick Electric Membership Corporation distributed its 30th annual Bright Ideas for Education Grants on Monday.
$40,000 in grants were awarded to Brunswick and Columbus County elementary, middle, and high school teachers.
The grants will pay for unique projects in various courses including math, science, and English.
Carly Kanzler is the music teacher at Belville Elementary School.
She said the grants are a major help for her and her fellow teachers.
“Its a huge honor, I, I really appreciate the support that the electric company gives to teachers. When there’s not the funds to be able to stretch for the projects that we want, its a huge deal to be able to get these projects granted and to get them funded.”
Teachers can apply for next year’s grants starting in April.
